Bulgaria and Romania join Schengan
Bulgaria and Romania will from April 2024 form part of the Schengan Zone. This makes travelling to these countries so much easier, as you now have the opportunity to visit these countries without having to obtain additional visas. An added bonus is that you will no longer need to go through routine border checks if visiting these countries, saving you valuable time on your travels.
Beginning March 31st, 2024, a new arrangement will come into effect for Bulgaria, Romania and the EU, along with non-EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein and Iceland. This agreement involves the removal of routine ID checks at internal air and sea borders among these nations. The Schengan Zone now compromises a total of 27 countries including Bulgaria and Romania.
For those with residence permits in Bulgaria and Romania, you too are able to travel visa free within the Schengan area for a period of up to 3 months.

UK Government Lowers Proposed Increase in Family Visa Earnings Requirement
The Home Office has revised it's plan to increase the salary threshold for UK Citizens seeking to bring foreign family members with them into the country. Originally, the home secretary, James Cleverly announced in the Commons that the threshold for a family visa would rise from £18,600 to £38,700 in the spring of 2024. Following criticism, however the Home Office now states that the threshold will only increase to £29,000, with no set date for when it will reach £38.700.
Cleverly maintains that the government's strategy will significally reduce net migration, aiming for a 300,000 reduction per year. He emphasized the need to protect British workers and public services while prioritizing those who contribute to the economy.
